Morning pick up from your Riad in Marrakech and your adventure begins by driving through the
High Atlas Mountains via the Tizi n’Tichka Pass (2,260m), the highest road passing Morocco,
offering panoramic views of the snow-capped High Atlas Mountains and the magnificent
landscapes. Afterwards drive to Visit the extraordinary sight of the Atlas Mountains Kasbah Ait
Ben Haddou which is a UNESCO protected historical site, built on a hilltop and featured in
many movies such as Gladiator and Lawrence of Arabia…… The views from the upper heights
are awe inspiring and worth the required climb through the winding, narrow streets. After lunch
in Ait Ben Haddou village, follow the road of Thousand Kasbah to Skoura oasis and Rose Valley
to Boumalne Dades. Arrive in Dades Valley which is carved for centuries by the Dades River. It
is a perfect destination overlooking the fertile valley below and the panorama of the mountains
beyond.
Night in a Hotel.
After breakfast we will leave Dades Valley and drive to Todra Gorges, the highest oasis valley
gorge in Morocco. The gorge cuts into the ocher-colored cliffs of the High Atlas. Its walls are 300
meters high and at their most narrow.
Then continue our journey towards Merzouga where your camels will be waiting for you to take you across the sand dunes of Moroccan Sahara Desert with its different facet of life and also diverse components.
Camel trek across the desert takes about 1 :30 min to reach your desert camp which going to be your
home for the night.
Night in a luxury Camp.
Today is dedicated to discover the oriental Sahara desert. We will drive through the desert on a
4×4, visiting the nomads at Erg Chebbi. We will also go to the village of the dark-skinned people
named “Khamlia” and enjoy the original music and folk songs of the Gnawas and visit Rissani,
the last major city of about 40km west of Erg Chebbi. Rissani itself is very interesting old town.
From 8 to 14 century it was a separate kingdom, known as Sijelmassa, prosperous of the caravan
routes and visit market – souk, the interesting thing about this Souk is not a tourist souk, but for
the people living there.
3 times a week is the market with sheep, goats and donkeys. At
lunchtime, you will have Berber Pizza. From there back to Merzouga
Village.
Night in a Hotel.
After breakfast in the desert, leave via an ancient city of Rissani, famous for caravan routes during the old ages.
Then continue passing the volcanic Saghro mountains – so different to the Atlas Mountains.
Then meet up with the Draa valley lined by many palm groves.
Night in a Riad.
In the morning we drive via Tizi n’Tichka Pass back to Marrakech, where you will see many
Berber villages along the route.
Your journey with us will end at your selected accommodation, or Menara airport if you have a flight to catch that evening.
